The current lineup of the Spartanburg-based Undercover Jazz trio was formed in late 2022, comprised of Brandon Edwards (drums), Corey McDaniels (bass), and band leader Zachary Pruitt (guitar). Zachary earned a Masters degree in Jazz studies at the University of South Carolina in 2022, and currently serves as professor of Guitar and Music History at USC upstate in Spartanburg. Collectively, the trio has had thousands of performances spanning multiple genres. Known for performing a wide array of jazz standards, as well as unique takes on popular songs from the decades, the group has more recently begun performing original tunes, composed by Zachary Pruitt himself. Jazz Fest will see the trio joined by local jazz greats Peter Dimery (tenor sax) and Evan Jacobi (alto sax).
